Wuhan Opera Art centre wins World Architecture Festival 2024 WAFX Prize

We are proud to share that our concept for the Wuhan Opera Art Centre in China won the prestigious WAFX Prize at the World Architecture Festival 2024 in Singapore

The WAFX Prize is a special award to recognise projects that best use design and architecture to tackle major world issues, including health, climate change, technology, ethics and values. Our design was a Winner in the Cultural Identity category.

The Wuhan Opera Art Centre was also shortlisted as a finalist in the WAF Future Project: Culture category. PES-Shanghai partner Jyri Eskola and Mr. Wang, project leader from local architect UAD, presented the project to a live jury and audience at the event.

Our design for the Wuhan Opera Art Centre received 2nd prize in an architecture competition in 2023. The 45,000 sqm multipurpose centre for performing arts was designed especially for Chinese opera, with dedicated theatres for Han, Jing, and Chu opera, as well as a western opera hall and experimental theatre.
